Our long-running Dalhousie Bon Ami Festival is held during the last week of July and first week of August. Enjoyed by all, nowhere will you find a town’s heart, soul and generosity more visible.

Plan to attend the market days, where you can enjoy crafts, clothing, jewellery, homemade sweets, circus rides, safety tips and more, while locals entertain and are entertained with music, dancing and a joke or two. The fireworks display never fails to cause the crowd to “ooh” and “ahh” like children.

Participate in a bingo-game fundraiser for cancer research, tiny-tots parade with antique fire-truck rides and free hotdogs for the little ones. Fun and games, and various events, like the “water balloons in the park day,” or the toe-tapping bluegrass concert, and local bands in the park. There will be a “show and shine,” with antique cars, a beauty pageant, a softball tournament and more. Citizens of the year will be elected, with prizes.

Club events such as a competition shoot sponsored by the local gun club and a display of rare pins from collectors who are members of the pin club.

The festival draws to a close on the last day with a parade, featuring pageant winners, local talent and sponsors. The day ends with a beach party, complete with live entertainment.

To keep the festival fresh, new events are held yearly. Let us show you what “home” is like in our community where community pride and fun are synonymous.
